Maven Steps Away From Call of Duty League After Disclosing Relationship With MerK’s Ex-Wife

Clint ‘Maven’ Evans has stepped down from his commentator role with the Call of Duty League after disclosing a personal relationship that complicates his on-screen partnership with Joe ‘MerK’ DeLuca.

In a social media post, Maven explained that he and Maurisa, MerK’s ex-wife, began dating after remaining close friends following their divorce. He described the situation as unconventional and something he never anticipated.

“I’ll be stepping away from the CDL for the foreseeable future,” Maven wrote. “As some of you know, I was very close to my casting partner Joe and his family. Maurisa was one of my best friends. We remained friends, after they divorced, and along the way it became more than that and we started dating. I understand how unconventional/taboo it is. It’s truly not something I ever foresaw happening.”

Maven added that he hopes to return to the CDL someday, but for now, he is stepping back. He urged fans to continue supporting MerK, the league, and its talent.

The Call of Duty League confirmed Maven’s departure, though it remains unclear whether he left voluntarily or was asked to step away by the organization. The league’s next season is not scheduled to begin until mid-December, giving officials time to determine a new casting partner for MerK.

Maven and MerK have been a well-known commentary duo in the Call of Duty esports scene for several years, widely praised for their chemistry and insight. Their absence from future broadcasts will likely be felt by fans who followed their work closely.

No official statement has been released by MerK or the Call of Duty League regarding the circumstances behind Maven’s exit beyond what Maven shared publicly.
