The Wolf Among Us 2 Hands-On: Telltale Overhauls Exploration, Keeps the Voice Cast
Telltale showed off an early build of The Wolf Among Us 2 at Gamescom, featuring redesigned exploration, the return of Adam Harrington as Bigby Wolf, and a new detective storyline involving a serial killer case.

Telltale demonstrated The Wolf Among Us 2 at Gamescom, giving press a guided look at an early build of the sequel. The game is set a few months after the original, with Bigby Wolf now working as a detective investigating a serial killer's apartment alongside human detective Faye.
The team made significant changes to how players explore environments. The original game's exploration felt clunky, so Telltale overhauled the system to play over the shoulder instead. According to design director Jessica Hara Campbell and principal scene coordinator Leslie Harwood, the new approach already feels more engaging in early builds.
Adam Harrington returns to voice Bigby Wolf, and additional returning cast members are confirmed though not yet named. New characters like Faye join the story as well. The game's visual design includes a new jacket for Bigby and distinct changes to his appearance compared to the first game.
A key thematic element in the demo involved Bigby's internal conflict over his wolf transformation abilities. In the original game, he maintained firm control over the transformation, but the demo suggested something or someone is trying to strip that control away from him. The larger question driving the narrative involves whether Bigby will reveal the existence of magic and fairytales to Faye.
The Wolf Among Us 2 is built in Unreal Engine this time, marking a departure from the original's engine. Telltale confirmed the sequel doesn't require players to have experienced the first game to understand the story. It functions as a standalone experience, though returning fans will find Easter eggs and callbacks throughout.
Hara Campbell and Harwood expressed their personal fandom for the series and their excitement about joining the development team. While some returning developers are part of the sequel, the team also includes significant new talent.
