Publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Team Ninja have announced that Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, the upcoming sequel to their dark fantasy action RPG Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, will launch for the PlayStation 5 on March 4, 2027.

Alongside the release date announcement and a new trailer, the developers have released a playable alpha demo on the PlayStation Store. The demo, which is just under 40 GB in size, gives players a chance to experience the game roughly six months ahead of its official launch. However, this alpha demo is a limited-time release, and players only have until September 30, 2026, at 14:59 UTC to access it before it is taken offline.

To access the demo, players will need an active online connection, though a PlayStation Plus subscription is not required to play. Those who manage to complete the limited-time demo will receive an in-game reward. The Fledgling Phoenix Helmet will be unlocked for players to use in the full game when Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember launches next year.

Like its predecessor, which explored the Three Kingdoms period through a dark fantasy lens, the sequel promises more of Team Ninja's signature high-speed action gameplay. The alpha demo is currently available to download directly from the PlayStation Store.
