Volanta v1.19.2 adds Navigraph AMDB layers, live Flightradar24 traffic, and SimBrief v2 integration

Orbx's flight-tracking application now integrates real-world air traffic data, enhanced airport mapping, and streamlined flight dispatch for simulators including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and X-Plane.

Orbx released Volanta v1.19.2, a substantial update to its flight-tracking application for flight simulators. The release brings deeper integrations with Navigraph, SimBrief, and Flightradar24, alongside new filtering options and aircraft metadata handling.

For Navigraph Unlimited subscribers, the update adds AMDB airport layers that replace basic airport maps when zooming into supported airports. These layers can be toggled off in satellite mode to view original markings. The update also displays real-world live traffic from Flightradar24 within a 150 km radius around your flight, visible only when actively tracking and controllable via the map settings panel. A new live comparison feature allows pilots to select a Flightradar24 flight and track its speed, altitude, distance, and flight path alongside their own aircraft during active flights.

Across all users, Volanta now integrates the SimBrief v2 API, requiring Navigraph sign-in through Settings → Connections for flight dispatch instead of SimBrief credentials. Dispatch runs in the background without displaying pop-up windows, while manual dispatch through SimBrief.com remains unchanged. A new SimBrief performance calculator is available for flights with SimBrief plans, automatically calculating results based on flight plan data and current weather with options for manual adjustments.

The update introduces expanded schedule filtering: origin and destination country filters, multiple airport selection, hourly departure time ranges, and days-of-week filtering. Automatic aircraft metadata retrieval now requires entering registration first, which searches the aircraft database and auto-populates airline, model, and Mode S transponder details. Existing aircraft can be backfilled through the aircraft page menu. Aircraft model and transponder code fields have been added to aircraft pages, enabling search by model alongside ICAO codes.

Additional improvements include Planespotters images displayed when hovering over non-Volanta flights from networks like VATSIM and IVAO. Fuel burn calculations now account for APU operation and stationary engine starts rather than starting only after movement. The app prompts security checks for Cloudflare connection issues and improves live connection reliability for map traffic and real-time updates.

Volanta is available on PC, Xbox, iOS, and Android, with a web browser version accessible without an account. The application works with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, X-Plane, DCS World, Prepar3D, and other flight simulators. A free version is available with premium subscription tiers unlocking advanced features and early access to updates.
