TYLOO's Mercury Says Practice Must Build Judgment, Not Just Tactics
TYLOO in-game leader Mercury says the team is focusing on improving game sense through practice that emphasizes player decision-making over rigid tactics.

TYLOO's in-game leader Jingxiang "Mercury" Wang says the team is working to improve its game sense by shifting practice away from strict tactical scripts and toward situations where players make their own calls.
The Chinese team recently overtook The MongolZ to become Asia's number one ranked side, but Mercury remains focused on securing the region's only Stage 2 spot at the upcoming Major. He noted that becoming Asia's top team came with pressure, especially given the tight competition with The MongolZ and the need to perform at two remaining ranking events before the cutoff.
"I do enjoy [the pressure]," Mercury said. "But sometimes when we lose some really crucial matches, I do doubt myself a bit, but it's mainly up to me to adjust my mental state."
As captain since the summer of 2024, Mercury has taken on increased responsibility in leading the team's strategy. He explained that every match requires a different style against different opponents, and sticking to the same approach makes the team easy to counter.
Addressing teammate WeiJie "zhokiNg" Zhong's earlier comments about game sense being a weakness compared to top European teams, Mercury emphasized that improvement comes through regular practice. "The purpose of practice," he said, "is so that they can make their own judgment calls, not just be limited to what's written on the tactics sheet."
Mercury also highlighted the importance of Stage 2 at the Major, noting that Asia only has one direct slot. Reaching CD2 would allow TYLOO to skip the earlier rounds and compete directly at the higher level.
