CS2 Crosshair Update Live After Launch Crash Rollback

Valve's October 1 patch adds a new Static Quadrant crosshair style, outline color options, and grenade crosshairs during freeze time. The update was temporarily rolled back due to launch crashes but is now live.

Valve has released a crosshair update for Counter-Strike 2 on October 1, 2026, following a temporary rollback caused by launch crashes. Matchmaking was briefly unavailable after the rollback but has since been restored.

The patch introduces several crosshair improvements. A new Static Quadrant style joins the existing Static Square option, continuing Valve's ongoing crosshair system overhaul. Players can now add an outline color to their crosshairs and have access to grenade crosshairs during freeze time by holding any grenade attack button. Valve designed this feature to support instant smoke grenades.

Additional changes include fixed weapon inaccuracy and spread visualization, support for negative gaps in the classic dynamic crosshair style, and adjusted alpha increments to 0.01 for finer control. The crosshair share code format has been expanded to include scope dot scale and color preferences.

The update also addresses Rush map issues with various clipping fixes. The download size is approximately 700 MB.

This patch builds on the September 23 crosshair system rebuild that arrived with the Rush Hour update. That earlier patch introduced a pixel-based system for precise crosshair dimensions and added automatic rescaling so proportions remain consistent across different resolutions.
