Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure Launch on PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 Alongside PC and Switch Patches

Classic role-playing games The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure are now available for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Alongside these new platform ports, handling duties managed by PH3, the existing PC and original Nintendo Switch versions of the games have been updated with new features and fixes.

The updates bring feature parity across versions, introducing two notable new settings for players. The first addition is the Texture Style option. This setting allows players to toggle between modernised textures used in previous PC iterations and the classic original textures from the initial releases. The classic setting can also be configured to use point sampling for a retro look.

Additionally, a new Color Space setting lets users choose between sRGB and bt.709 color spaces. According to developer notes from Peter "Durante" Thoman of PH3, sRGB provides a brighter presentation with slightly less contrast compared to bt.709. The patch also addresses various text and localization issues, fixes potential texture reloading bugs when changing languages, and improves crash resilience across specific hardware configurations.

Performance tweaks in the patch include avoiding the polling of disconnected controller slots every frame to marginally boost efficiency. The update also resolves framerate drops associated with high polling rate mice operating above 1000 Hz. NIS America is distributing the RPG package both physically at retail and digitally across supported storefronts.
