Tokyo Game Show Cancels Final Day Due to Incoming Typhoon

The Tokyo Game Show organizing team has canceled the event's final day on Monday, September 21, due to an approaching typhoon. The decision comes after what organizers described as the largest Tokyo Game Show in the event's quarter-century history.

In a statement to media, the organizers cited safety concerns as the primary reason for the cancellation. Strong winds and heavy rain are expected from the afternoon of September 21, and public transportation services may be disrupted, making it difficult for attendees to return home safely.

The full statement read: "Due to the approaching typhoon, strong winds and heavy rain are expected from the afternoon of September 21. There is also a possibility that public transportation services may be affected, making it difficult for visitors and other attendees to return home safely. Taking the safety of all attendees, exhibitors, staff, and other parties involved as our highest priority, we have decided to cancel the event for the entire day on September 21. We sincerely apologize for this last-minute notice and for the significant inconvenience this may cause."

The cancellation means Sunday, September 20, will now serve as the final day of this year's event instead of Monday. Organizers stressed that if severe weather arrives sooner than anticipated, Sunday's schedule could also be modified or canceled. Tickets purchased for Monday's canceled event will be refunded.

The decision reflects the organizers' prioritization of attendee and staff safety over the extended schedule, which had made this year's show the longest in Tokyo Game Show history.
