Toem 2 Expands Photography Adventure With Interactive Camera Mechanics
Something We Made's sequel builds on the original with new camera functions that let players interact with the world while capturing photos. The game launches September 29, 2026 across Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and PC.

Toem 2 follows the photography-focused design of its predecessor but introduces interactive camera mechanics that add a new layer to exploration and puzzle-solving. Players begin by leaving their hometown to attend the Whirlhill Festival, a celebration of the blooming Whirling Birch, and must help townspeople along the way by taking specific photographs to earn stamps for progress.
The core loop remains unchanged: arrive at a location, assist people with requests that typically involve photography, then return to quest-givers for stamps. But the sequel expands this formula. New camera functions serve as interactive tools within the first-person viewpoint. Early examples include a Focus mechanic that can transform a paper into an airplane, while later puzzles might require players to "bonk" environmental objects to trigger photo subjects to appear or "twist" screws to change positions. These actions feel like natural extensions of the helpful protagonist rather than arbitrary mechanics.
The visual presentation has evolved from the original's 2D isometric style overlaid on 3D environments. Toem 2 now features 3D models in the world alongside 2D characters and creatures. This shift encourages exploration from different angles and supports light platforming elements. One reviewer noted the contrast between 3D and 2D elements occasionally feels off in certain situations, though the overall aesthetic remains consistent with the series' charm.
The game completes its story in a few hours, delivering what reviewers describe as a rich, concise adventure. The black-and-white hand-drawn art style maintains the series' wholesome tone and visual appeal. The experience balances big events like festivals with smaller moments of discovery, creating an inviting world designed to be savored rather than rushed through.
Toem 2 arrives September 29, 2026 on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC.
