Turn-Based RPG Tianji: Shadow of the Ancients Announced for Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch

Jusdan International has announced Tianji: Shadow of the Ancients, a turn-based RPG scheduled to release in 2027 for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

The game takes place during the Tianbao era of the Tang Dynasty in the Bashu region. Players assume the role of Shangguan Shuo, an amnesiac Tianji Guard soldier who sets out with a fish token and mysterious mask to uncover his past. Throughout the journey, Shuo uncovers a hidden scheme connected to his history and witnesses the awakening of a thousand-year-old city.

Combat emphasizes combo-driven mechanics built on classic RPG foundations. Players can exploit enemy weaknesses, render foes vulnerable, and trigger Pursuit Skills by combining abilities, equipment, and Core effects to develop personalized fighting strategies.

Exploration features dynamic world interaction including climbing, swimming, and environmental puzzles. Towns shift between day and night cycles, with NPC interactions, discoverable items, and events changing based on the time of day.

Character progression centers on companion-specific skills that unlock cooking, equipment refinement, Core upgrades, and rare item trading. As character side stories progress, these skills continue to develop.
