Changes are coming to The Witcher 3 remaster and the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion, including updates to the movement behavior of Geralt's trusty steed, Roach. The horse has long possessed a distinct personality in the original game, often getting stuck in doorways and navigating impossible places. In an interview with Fall Damage, Fool's Theory design director Karolina Kuzia and CD Projekt Red level design lead Miles Tost discussed whether these famous quirks had been addressed.

Tost confirmed that updates to Roach's movement behavior are included in the remaster update. However, anticipating that players might miss the traditional equestrian mishaps, the development team built a specific option into the game. Players can turn off the new movement behavior if they prefer the older patterns. Tost stated that if players prefer legacy Roach and the way she has always behaved, they can easily make that choice.

The Songs of the Past expansion is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The upcoming release also serves to bring closure to the story of Dandelion, providing a narrative bridge between the 2015 role-playing game and The Witcher 4. Additional details regarding the project have emerged through events such as PAX Australia, where attendees gained access to behind-the-scenes demonstrations and panel discussions featuring members of CD Projekt and Fool's Theory.
