The Mummy 4 begins filming with Fraser and Weisz reuniting after 25 years

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz have returned to their roles as Rick and Evelyn O'Connell for The Mummy 4, with production now underway in the UK. Set photos suggest the story takes place in the 1950s, roughly 25 years after the original films.

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz have reunited to reprise their roles as Rick and Evelyn O'Connell in The Mummy 4, marking their first time playing the characters together since 2001's The Mummy Returns. Filming has begun in the UK, with set photos revealing the actors in costume at separate locations.

The legacy sequel is directed by Radio Silence's Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. Based on the costumes visible in set photos, the film appears to be set in the 1950s, approximately 25 years after the events of The Mummy Returns. Fraser was photographed driving a silver-and-red rocket car while wearing a leather jacket, while Weisz appeared in period costume filming outside the British Museum in London.

The Mummy 4 will ignore the events of 2008's The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, in which Rachel Weisz did not reprise her role. The film reunites much of the original cast, including John Hannah as Jonathan Carnahan, Arnold Vosloo as Imhotep, Kevin J. O'Connor as Beni, and Oded Fehr as Ardeth Bay.

The Mummy 4 is scheduled to release on October 15, 2027.
