The Duskbloods Absent From September Nintendo Direct Amid Release Window Concerns

The Duskbloods, From Software's new game and one of the Nintendo Switch 2's major exclusives, was missing in action during the September Nintendo Direct presentation. With less than four months remaining until the end of the year, the release window for the title is narrowing. Given that the game is still officially slated to launch this year, observers might have expected the creators of Elden Ring to use the presentation to showcase a release date, along with a glimpse at maps and playable characters not featured in recent playtests.

The closed network test for The Duskbloods held in August encountered technical difficulties and server issues, prompting From Software to cancel the first day of sessions. Although those problems were resolved for subsequent days, letting players experience the cooperative and competitive action, analysts suggest From Software may require additional time to address online multiplayer complications. Nintendo has previously favored holding dedicated digital events for major titles, such as targeted presentations for its Star Fox remake, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. A similar strategy could be planned for The Duskbloods, though its complete omission from a broad showcase focused on winter and early next year releases remains notable.

Demand for the title remains strong, as a From Software employee recently revealed that interest in the playtest surpassed that of Elden Ring Nightreign. Whether The Duskbloods will successfully meet its planned release target or be postponed remains to be seen. Meanwhile, the broader Nintendo Direct presentation delivered numerous other updates, including the announcement of Metroid Ravenous for early next year and an open-world Kirby title titled Kirby and the World Beyond slated for spring 2027.
