Team Liquid Beats Cloud9 3-1 to Secure LoL Worlds 2026 Main Event Spot
Team Liquid advanced to the League of Legends World Championship main event with a dominant 3-1 victory over Cloud9 in the LCS Playoffs upper bracket final. Cloud9 will compete in the lower bracket final against LYON for the last available main event

Team Liquid secured their place at the League of Legends World Championship 2026 main event after defeating Cloud9 3-1 in the LCS Playoffs upper bracket final. The victory puts Team Liquid directly into the competition's primary stage while Cloud9 faces an elimination match.
Team Liquid's performance was built on superior drafting and macro play throughout the series. Park 'Morgan' Ru-han, Team Liquid's top laner, earned Player of the Series honors, though the individual performances across the roster were strong enough that the award could have gone to multiple teammates. Team Liquid players individually outperformed their Cloud9 counterparts while maintaining better overall team cohesion.
Cloud9 now faces LYON in the lower bracket final to determine the final main event qualifier. The loser will drop into the Play-Ins stage alongside Karmine Corp and MVK Esports, where only one team will advance to the main event proper. LYON enters the matchup as the favorite after winning every regional split this year and finishing third at the Mid-Season Invitational.
The LCS and CBLOL regions completed their summer playoffs this week, deciding the final five spots for Worlds 2026. CBLOL's playoffs schedule ran so late that the league was forced to send its fourth-placed team to the Demacia Cup instead of the third-placed team, who will still be competing in Finals weekend. One of LOUD or FURIA will miss both Worlds and the Demacia Cup depending on the outcome of their lower bracket final.
Team Liquid will compete in the World Championship main event when it begins next weekend in Georgia.
