Team Envy Eyeing Counter-Strike Return with 3DMAX Roster Acquisition

Team Envy could be making a comeback to professional Counter-Strike by absorbing the troubled 3DMAX roster, according to reports. The organization departed the CS scene in January 2021 after years without substantial tournament wins.

Team Envy is reportedly preparing a return to professional Counter-Strike esports after more than five years away from the scene. According to a report from Sheep Esports, the organization plans to resurface by acquiring the current 3DMAX roster.

3DMAX has faced significant turmoil in recent months, with players dealing with unpaid wages, missing prize money, and organizational mismanagement. The roster has been actively seeking a new organization to represent them, and Envy's potential acquisition could provide a fresh start.

Envy's previous involvement in Counter-Strike stretched back over a decade, during which the organization managed several French players who went on to establish themselves in esports. However, the organization departed the competitive CS landscape in January 2021 after a prolonged period without major tournament victories.

The 3DMAX squad suffered a notable setback months ago when it failed to qualify for the Cologne Major, a significant blow that coincided with the organization's mounting financial difficulties. Those issues have continued to deteriorate, prompting the team to seek alternative representation.

If the acquisition moves forward, it would mark Envy's first competitive Counter-Strike presence in over five years. The move would reunite the organization with a franchise it built a notable history within, though under significantly different circumstances than its earlier involvement in the game's esports ecosystem.
