Suri: The Seventh Note launches October 30 on PS5
After four years of development, the debut game from a PlayStation India Hero Project studio arrives on PS5 with a rhythm gameplay system built around Indian musical traditions and a custom 480-millisecond timing window.
Suri: The Seventh Note will launch on PlayStation 5 on October 30, 2026. The game is the debut title from a studio working with Sony's PlayStation India Hero Project, arriving after four years of development.
The game combines rhythm gameplay with exploration across an island inspired by Indian artistic and architectural traditions. Every environment, character, and animation has been hand-illustrated. The island draws from Rajput forts, Theyyam Culture, Himalayan monasteries, and diverse regional cultures to create what the developers describe as a vibrant fantasy world that feels both familiar and original.
Central to Suri's design is its approach to music and rhythm. Eighty percent of the soundtrack uses original analogue instruments rather than electronic synthesis, preserving the texture of the music. The developers incorporated regional Indian musical traditions throughout the game: a veena appears in the southern part of the island, while Rajasthani musical traditions inform the desert portions.
A key technical constraint shaped the game's rhythm system. The developers settled on a 480-millisecond gap between consecutive main beats as the optimal timing window. This interval provides enough space for player input response while maintaining momentum. A longer window could disrupt rhythm and mood, making the game feel less responsive, while a shorter window might make failure states too subtle for players to consciously recognize. The 480 ms interval balances responsiveness, rhythmic clarity, and gameplay momentum.
The developers created a hybrid musical genre by blending hip-hop structure with Indian percussion instruments and textures. This approach allows gameplay requirements to coexist with authentic Indian musical influences, which the developers note cannot always exist in pure form within the game's rhythm mechanics. Indian aesthetics appear instead in cutscenes and narration drawings.
The game features a protagonist named Ajira. Players can chase perfect runs, uncover hidden paths, master movement abilities, or explore the world at their own pace.
Two editions are available for pre-order. The Standard Edition includes the base game and a 20 percent pre-order discount for PlayStation Plus members. The Digital Deluxe Edition adds an exclusive Chandini Skin DLC, 3-day early access to the full game, and the same 20 percent pre-order discount. The Chandini Skin and DLC are exclusive to the Digital Deluxe Edition and will not be available for separate purchase, though players who buy the Digital Deluxe Edition after launch will still receive both items.
The game was developed with support from PlayStation's technical team, particularly for the custom Rhythm Haptics Engine designed for PS5.
