Report: Supercell Conducts Layoffs and Cancels Project in North American Division
Supercell has reportedly reduced staff in its North American studios and cancelled an unreleased project, following separate restructuring news involving incoming subsidiary Metacore.

MobileGamer reports that Supercell reduced key staff members within its North American division starting late last year. The workforce reductions surfaced through social media posts shared by affected employees who are currently finishing their final weeks at the company.
Among those impacted is Steve Desilets, co-founder of a United States branch for Supercell. Desilets stated on LinkedIn that the company decided to cancel the game his studio was developing and disbanded the project team. It remains unclear whether Supercell plans to completely close the American branch following these cancellations. Supercell has not publicly commented on the situation, and requests for comment have not yet received a response.
Meanwhile, parallel restructuring has affected Metacore, a studio set to become a subsidiary of Supercell. Metacore closed its offices in Germany and Sweden while laying off 159 employees in Finland, reducing the majority of its workforce. Supercell previously announced plans to acquire the Merge Mansion developers in May, though that corporate transaction has not yet been finalized.
