Sunsoft is Back: Retro Game Selection 2 Announced for Nintendo Switch

Sunsoft has officially announced Sunsoft is Back: Retro Game Selection 2 for the Nintendo Switch. The upcoming collection brings together four early Famicom titles from the 1980s, ranging from major hits to hidden gems. While a Japanese release date has been confirmed for December 17, 2026, fans in the West are still awaiting confirmation regarding a regional release date.

The collection builds on retro-focused quality-of-life additions, offering support for save states and rewind functionality to help players progress through difficult sections. Additionally, a Gallery Mode will be included, showcasing rare material from the original games such as concept artwork and promotional flyers.

Four specific titles are featured in the collection. Super Arabian, Sunsoft's first home console game released in 1985, tasks players with rescuing a kidnapped princess while collecting Magic Jars. The quirky action game Ikki features simultaneous multiplayer for up to two players, following a young farmer who rebels against heavy taxes. The Mystery of Atlantis is a high-difficulty action game spanning 100 stages where the protagonist searches for a missing master. Finally, Maharaja rounds out the package as an adventure RPG hidden gem originally released in 1989, drawing the player into a world-shaping battle in India.

Sunsoft previously released the first entry in its retro collection series in 2024. Further announcements regarding western launch details are expected at a later date.
