G2 Esports have officially announced the departure of Álvaro "SunPayus" García, ending his 14-month tenure with the organization. The Spanish AWPer spent the last three months benched after Artem "r1nkle" Moroz replaced him in June.

SunPayus joined G2 in July 2025 as the successor to Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, who transferred to Falcons. His arrival showed early promise when G2 won BLAST Open London 2025 within a month. However, consistent results proved elusive, with the team frequently falling short of playoffs or exiting early.

G2 coach Eetu "sAw" Saha cited the need for a more aggressive playstyle as the reason for the move. "I think he can still bring the right things to the right team," sAw said of SunPayus. "I think for us we need something more aggressive because we have also other players who are a bit more on the passive side."

Though G2 made no official announcement about SunPayus' next destination, reports widely link the 27-year-old with FUT, where he is expected to replace AWPer Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov.
