Stephen Root Confirmed as First Voice Actor for Grand Theft Auto 6

Actor Stephen Root has provided the first official confirmation of a voice actor starring in Rockstar Games upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6. Speaking to APNews at the BAFTA Tea Party, Root confirmed his involvement in the highly anticipated open-world title.

Reflecting on how his casting came to light, Root explained that his character appeared in the rollout from approximately a year prior. He noted that because many people recognize his voice from past roles such as King of the Hill, the secret was divulged early on. When asked about his experience working on the project, Root expressed excitement about being involved, calling it an amazing thing to look at.

While Root did not explicitly state the specific character he is portraying in Grand Theft Auto 6, his comments align with existing fan speculation. Observers have previously pointed toward Brian Heder, a retired smuggler who employs the protagonist Jason. Heder appeared in a recent extended look for the game during a rooftop party scene where he shared a cigar with Jason. Rockstar Games has still not revealed the actors providing the likenesses and voices for the two main characters, Jason and Lucia.

Grand Theft Auto 6 remains one of the most anticipated titles in gaming history. As the marketing campaign continues to ramp up, including recent approvals for negotiations by Miami Beach, further details regarding the cast and specific roles are expected to emerge leading up to launch.
