Star Fox Adventures Lands on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack

The divisive GameCube title Star Fox Adventures has officially landed on the Nintendo Switch Online service. As announced during the September Nintendo Direct, the 2002 title is available to play as a Nintendo Classic for subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

Developed by Rare, Star Fox Adventures originally marked a significant departure from the dog-fighting flight-combat-simulator gameplay the franchise was known for. Beginning its life as Dinosaur Planet for the Nintendo 64 before Shigeru Miyamoto proposed converting it into a Star Fox game, the adventure features Zelda-like action. Players control Fox McCloud as he explores Dinosaur Planet on foot, fighting enemies with a staff and solving environmental puzzles. The game also famously introduced Krystal, who later becomes the first female pilot in the series, and stands as Rare's final game for Nintendo prior to being acquired by Microsoft.

Alongside the shadowdrop of Star Fox Adventures, the September Direct also revealed that a free update is coming to the newer Star Fox game for Switch 2. This update will introduce new multiplayer features and maps, launching on September 29.
