Sol Protocol Early Access Launches September 19 as VR Co-op Roguelike
Singular Perception's co-op action roguelike emphasizes multiplayer gameplay with a focus on ship management and zero-gravity resource gathering across VR platforms.

Sol Protocol, a co-op action roguelike from Singular Perception, launches in Early Access on September 19 for Meta Quest 3 and 3S, with a Steam version planned for October. The game costs $11.99.
The game is built entirely around multiplayer play. According to UploadVR's early access impressions, players with no interest in co-op will find little to engage with. The core experience centers on a three-seat spaceship cockpit where players assume distinct roles: captain, pilot, and gunner. The captain manages energy distribution across shields, engines, the warp drive, and weapons systems. The pilot avoids enemy attacks while the gunner tracks and fires targets using a head-tracking visor.
Gameplay follows a straightforward loop. Players check a star map for sectors with points of interest, allocate warp drive energy, and travel to new galaxies to search for resources and structures while avoiding enemies. Resources include repair materials, weapons, supplementary ship systems like extra shields, and energy cells that increase maximum available power.
Outside the ship, zero-gravity movement becomes central during resource gathering and exploration of structures. Players strafe using the left analog stick and adjust elevation with the right stick and boosters. Rotation uses face buttons and analog stick clicks. The game includes optional vignetting, smooth and snap turning options for comfort during zero-gravity sequences.
UploadVR noted that Early Access performance on Quest 3 showed frame drops and reprojection artifacts. The reviewer described the current scope as sparse but the foundation as promising, suggesting the developers will expand the experience during the Early Access period.
