NAVI's Major streak in jeopardy as Singapore invites loom one month away

The esports landscape shifts as VRS points determine Singapore Major invites. Natus Vincere sits outside qualification, while regional powerhouses FaZe, The MongolZ, and paiN face uncertainty in the race.

The Singapore Major invites arrive in just over a month, and the Counter-Strike scene is descending into a frenzy as teams race to accumulate VRS points at events worldwide. With smaller international LANs filling the calendar and the tier-one circuit returning on Saturday with ESL Pro League S24, several established names face the real possibility of missing out.

Natus Vincere stands as the biggest name in doubt. The Ukrainian organization currently sits at No. 19 in the European VRS ranking, just outside the Major cut-off. What makes this remarkable is that NAVI holds the record as the only team to attend every Counter-Strike Major throughout history. That streak is now genuinely at risk if they do not improve over the next month.

The positive aspect of their situation is that they will compete at two tier-one events: PGL Bucharest Masters and ESL Pro League S24, both offering substantial VRS points. A playoff appearance at either event would massively increase their chances of securing a Singapore invite. However, NAVI has won only three games since the summer break, with a round of 16 appearance at the Esports World Cup as their most notable recent result. Their fate rests entirely in their own hands, but a clear upturn in form is required.

FaZe Clan occupies a slightly better but still precarious position at No. 11 in the European ranking. With some of their better recent results expiring and no tier-one invites scheduled, they must maximize three lower-ranked events: Stake Ranked Episode 4, Roman Imperium Cup IX, and DraculaN Season 7 in October. Deep playoff runs should suffice to secure qualification, but early exits or upsets could prove disastrous. The team demonstrated inconsistency at FISSURE Playground 3 with a last-place finish, though players like David "frozen" Čerňanský and Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken remain proven tier-one competitors.

The Asian region has experienced significant upheaval. BC.Game and WW both announced roster changes to achieve Asian majority status, shaking up the existing competition. BC.Game's signing of Tyson "asap" Paterson dramatically improved their qualification chances from around 5% in the European ranking. They now need just solid results at ROG JOURNEY, Stake Pulse Beat 3, or DraculaN S7 to qualify through Asia. WW faces a tougher path, battling 5star and FlyQuest for the last provisional spot after a costly last-place exit at 1xBet FRAG Season 18.

The MongolZ, previously the undisputed Asian top seed, is no longer guaranteed that position. After failing to replace departing players Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold and Ayush "mzinho" Batbold, the team has fallen further down the regional order. Recent additions Zolbayar "tikuak" Chimedtseren and Dugarsuren "DarkMeister" Ireedui lasted only three months on the roster. TYLOO now has a higher qualification probability as the top-ranked Asian squad at the cut-off. The MongolZ did not even field a complete roster at publication time.

In the Americas, paiN's struggles have become dire. The Brazilian squad made the last six consecutive Majors but now looks increasingly likely to miss Singapore after a series of poor results. After removing Guilherme "piriajr" Barbosa and Vinicius "vsm" Moreira, paiN promoted academy players Rickson "Rkzinho" Ribeiro Dias and Lucas "Tatu" Santana. While Rkzinho has shown promise, the team failed to capitalize on a possible honeymoon phase. paiN placed second at FERJEE In House Season 2, missing a golden ticket opportunity, and currently has no upcoming tournaments listed in the HLTV database to earn additional points.

The VRS race remains volatile and will shift daily throughout October. A plethora of smaller international LANs continues to fill the calendar, while the tier-one circuit resumes with ESL Pro League S24. Teams have approximately one month to secure their positions before invites are extended.
