Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past! translates the 90s anime into an arcade platformer that blends 2D platforming with hack-and-slash combat. The game features three playable characters from the show: Speedy Cerviche, Polly Esther, and Guido Anchovy, each with distinct abilities that determine how they approach each level.

Guido Anchovy equips a jetpack and can bounce off walls, while Polly Esther carries a ranged firearm. Players swap between characters freely to use their abilities where they're most useful. Beyond each character's base weapon, swords, spears, and other pickups unlock additional attack combinations as you progress through levels.

The level design emphasizes rooftop navigation and moving platforms while enemies engage you in combat. A tutorial mission teaches the basics before opening up full character switching during regular play.

Visually, the game recreates the 90s show through retro pixel art styling that mimics the look of the original series. According to a preview at Tokyo Game Show 2026, this aesthetic approach should resonate with fans of the anime.

Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past! is targeting a 2027 release and does not currently have a specific launch date.
