The Rogue Prince of Persia receives final update as Evil Empire wraps development

Developer Evil Empire has announced that The Rogue Prince of Persia will receive no further updates. The anniversary update released last week marks the final addition to the game, the studio confirmed in a statement.

Evil Empire originally planned two separate updates but consolidated them into a single anniversary release. "We originally planned two updates, but decided to bring the best and most important parts of both into this one," the studio said. "We've always been a bit too optimistic about what we could do, mostly because we genuinely love working on the game, but we feel this is the right way to wrap up its first year."

The anniversary update added new combat zones, a new weapon and tool, and parkour updates to the game. The studio thanked the community for their support, noting that more than one million players have experienced the title since launch.

Evil Empire developed The Rogue Prince of Persia in partnership with Ubisoft, marking the studio's first project. "It's been an honour and a privilege to work on such an iconic franchise, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who played, supported us, or followed along," the studio said in its farewell statement.

The conclusion of updates to The Rogue Prince of Persia does not mark the end of Evil Empire's work. The studio is currently co-developing Castlevania: Belmont's Curse with Motion Twin, the team behind Dead Cells. That new Castlevania title is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch next month, with a demo also planned.
