Roblox developers will soon be able to bring their games to external platforms as standalone titles. Announced at the annual Roblox Developers Conference, the upcoming initiative will allow creators of popular experiences like Welcome to Bloxburg, Steal an Egg, and Scream and Run to publish on stores such as Steam, the App Store, and Google Play.

Developers shipping their games on outside platforms will retain the same revenue share economics offered by the main Roblox app. A company spokesperson stated that this includes a higher Developer Exchange rate for age-verified users aged 18 and older in the United States. Roblox currently claims between 10 and 70 percent of fees on various in-game transactions. The platform utilizes its DevEx program to convert earned Robux into real currency, with a general conversion rate of $0.0038 per 1 Robux.

Alongside the standalone publishing plans, Roblox Corporation revealed several new development tools and features. The platform is adding support for browser-based play through programs like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, as well as an offline mode for single-player games without a server connection. Engine updates will introduce support for 2D games via an orthographic camera, animated image containers, and direct sprite-sheet import capabilities. Furthermore, the company is expanding the public alpha of its generative AI development tab called Build to new regions, alongside a prompt-to-scene generator connecting Build and Studio.

Financial offerings for creators are also expanding with the introduction of Roblox Wallet, which enables direct real-currency earnings, and a Roblox Card allowing creators to spend cash from their wallet. Additionally, Roblox adjusted its discovery ranking system. The updated algorithm optimizes for younger players who favor short-form games and older players who prefer deeper experiences over time.
