PS5 and PS5 Pro Jailbreak Released, Affects Consoles on Older Firmware
A new jailbreak called the 13.60 Relapse has surfaced, making both PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles vulnerable to exploitation on firmware versions up to 13.60. Sony warns that jailbreaking can result in permanent PSN bans and legal consequences.

A newly released jailbreak has made PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro consoles vulnerable to exploitation. The so-called 13.60 Relapse jailbreak can affect PS5 hardware running firmware versions from 7.00 up to 13.60, according to reports from modding communities.
The vulnerability does not affect consoles updated within the past week, as newer patches appear to close the exploit. According to a post on X by user @manfightdragon: "New PlayStation 5 jailbreak just dropped. Every PS5 console can now be jailbroken except ones updated in the past week or so." The post confirmed that PS5 Pro models are also susceptible.
Jailbreaking a PlayStation console remains illegal and carries serious consequences. Sony has made clear that unauthorized modifications can result in permanent PSN account bans, console hardware damage, and potential legal action. A YouTube video demonstrating the jailbreak warned viewers: "The consequences for doing this will be extreme. Jailbreaking can result in your console breaking, having your PSN account permanently banned, and, of course, potential legal ramifications for doing this."
The PlayStation 5 had previously resisted jailbreak attempts for several years, but recent months have seen multiple vulnerabilities discovered. Security researchers and modding communities continue to identify and exploit weaknesses in Sony's hardware and firmware architecture. It remains likely that additional jailbreaks will emerge to circumvent future PS5 software updates, creating an ongoing challenge for Sony's security posture.
Players concerned about console security should ensure their PS5 systems are updated to the latest available firmware version. Sony regularly releases security patches to address vulnerabilities, and staying current with updates is the primary defense against exploitation.
