Pokémon Unite's Final Esports Event Breaks Prize Pool Record with $1 Million Aeos Crown 2027
The Pokémon Unite Aeos Crown 2027 will feature a $1 million prize pool, doubling every Pokémon tournament ever held. The 32-team event in Tokyo marks what appears to be the game's last esports championship after being removed from the Pokémon World

Pokémon Unite's Aeos Crown 2027 tournament will shatter franchise esports records with a $1 million prize pool, the largest in Pokémon competitive history. The figure doubles the previous record of $500,000, which was held by the Pokémon Unite World Championships across 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.
The event appears likely to be the game's final esports competition. Earlier this year, The Pokémon Company announced that Unite would no longer be included in the Pokémon World Championships. Documentation from the initial announcement labelled the Aeos Crown 2027 as the "Final Tournament," though this may reflect translation choices rather than explicit confirmation.
The prize pool combines cash awards and supplementary recognition. The Pokémon Company has not yet disclosed prize distribution details, but confirmed that the winning team will receive a physical crown as their trophy.
The tournament will run March 20-21, 2027, in Tokyo with 32 teams competing. Travel will be covered for all qualifying squads. Pokémon Unite World Championships 2026 winners ZETA DIVISION receive a direct invitation to the finals. The remaining 31 spots will be decided through Online Regional Qualifiers beginning worldwide on Saturday, December 5.
Both the final day of regional qualifiers and the offline finals will use the "All-Star Draft" format, where any Pokémon selected once cannot be picked again within the same match. Matches from the qualifier finals and the main event will be broadcast live on official channels, with regional qualifiers scheduled sequentially to avoid broadcast overlaps.
