Nintendo Announces Pokémon Pokopia Has Sold Over 5 Million Copies Worldwide

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have officially announced that Pokémon Pokopia has achieved a major sales milestone, surpassing five million units sold globally just over four months after its launch. This total accounts for both physical and digital editions of the spin-off title, which was developed by the team behind Dragon Quest Builders.

Based on Nintendo's hardware data indicating that over 20 million Nintendo Switch 2 units had been sold as of May 2026, rough estimates suggest that approximately one in four console users now owns a copy of the game. For comparison, Pokémon Legends: Z-A has sold 3.99 million units on the Switch 2 via its dedicated version, while Mario Kart World leads the platform's software sales with an impressive 15.39 million copies sold.

Recent momentum for the title has likely been boosted by the launch of paid downloadable content. The first release from the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, titled "Part 1: Bubbly Basin," recently became available. This update introduces an underwater town complete with new Pokémon to discover, new furniture to build, and new recipes to prepare.

Co-published by Nintendo and Koei Tecmo, Pokémon Pokopia has proven to be a massive success. Koei Tecmo previously stated an intention to reduce its reliance on major releases by focusing on portfolio balance, and this strong performance indicates that strategy is yielding positive results.
