Pokemon Pokopia Surpasses 5 Million Sales in Five Months Following First DLC Launch

Nintendo has officially confirmed that the cozy spin-off game Pokemon Pokopia has achieved over five million sales in just a little over five months since its release. This milestone positions the title as Nintendo's second best-selling game on the Switch 2, trailing only behind Mario Kart World, which has officially recorded over 15 million copies sold.

The sales milestone arrived shortly after the launch of Bubbly Basin, the first major expansion for Pokemon Pokopia. This initial DLC pack shifts the gameplay focus from land to water, introducing a brand-new underwater town to explore, ocean-themed Pokemon to befriend, mermaid-inspired furniture, and various new outfits. Bubbly Basin is the first installment in the game's expansion pass, which is currently priced at $34.99 and includes a bonus of 30 rare Pokémetal items for purchasers who buy the pass before August 31, 2027. Nintendo has yet to fully detail the remaining two additions included in the three-part expansion pass.

Previously, Koei Tecmo's CEO remarked that the game was designed to be a top-selling spin-off, though they initially held modest expectations prior to its international success.
