Developer King Art Games has released the first extended gameplay look for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV. The new battle report highlights a 1v1 Annihilation match between two distinct Xenos factions, pitting the Orks against the Necrons. The report is the first in a scheduled series of gameplay showcases planned by the studio leading up to the game's launch.

The featured match details the clash between the ancient, robotic Necrons and the numerous, scrap-built forces of the Orks. According to the coverage, the Necrons rely on advanced technology and powerful capabilities as a limited race of immortal beings. In contrast, the Orks utilize sheer numbers, enthusiasm, and makeshift weaponry put together with tape and scrap to offset their lack of traditional sophistication.

King Art Games has outlined a schedule for additional gameplay reveals over the coming weeks. A multiplayer 2v2 Team Domination match featuring all four factions is scheduled for September 16. Following that showcase, a 2v2 Team Skirmish battle where two human commanders face elite AI is planned for September 23.

The upcoming title experienced a change in its release schedule. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV saw its launch pushed to December, though buyers of the Commander Edition can access the game in November.
