NRG opened their StarLadder StarSeries Fall campaign with a significant upset, defeating MOUZ 2-1 on the tournament's inaugural day. The win earned NRG 129 VRS points, a substantial boost as teams compete for spots at the next Major.

MOUZ entered the match ranked among the top two teams by VRS, making the victory particularly valuable. Michael Grim Wince emphasized the importance of the result without overestimating NRG's trajectory. "Obviously, we can't just assume we're on the top of the world now," he told HLTV after the match. "We need to keep grinding and keep beating teams."

Preparation played a key role in the upset. Wince noted that NRG had performed well in practice leading into the tournament and committed to executing their practiced strategies. On Inferno, one of the series maps, NRG had gone undefeated in scrimmages during their time competing in North America before traveling to compete internationally.

Dust2 proved decisive, though NRG squandered several close rounds. Wince acknowledged the missed opportunities but maintained focus on the larger performance. "All the clutches we should've won, all three of them," he reflected. "The only round we lost legit was like one of the last ones where we went long." Despite nearly conceding an 11-1 first half, NRG recovered to win the map decisively.

The victory carries additional significance for NRG's roster composition. Wince, who previously competed alongside hallzerk at Complexity, recently reunited with his former teammate at NRG. Initial results have been limited due to practice constraints, but Wince expressed confidence in the partnership. "He's a great teammate, great person, and he's just super energetic and positive in the game," Wince said of hallzerk. "When I was pitching hallzerk to NRG, I'm like, 'This guy I think could elevate us to new heights.'"

The confidence gained from defeating a top-tier opponent positions NRG favorably for the remainder of the tournament. Wince characterized the MOUZ result as potentially the best possible opening win available at StarSeries Fall, signaling optimism about NRG's competitive standing against the event's field.
