Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players are discovering unexpected mods that transplant mechanics from Skate and Minecraft into Infinity Ward's multiplayer shooter.

A skateboarding mod showcased by Chasm on X allows operators to traverse maps on boards, performing tricks across various terrains. The mod enables players to grind on rails and sidewalks, jump through windows, and free-fall from heights while exploring different map layouts on their skateboards.

Separately, a Minecraft mod spotted by Dexerto transforms Modern Warfare 2 into a first-person shooter experience set within blocky Minecraft worlds. Players load into a Minecraft environment with their standard loadouts, using sniper rifles, assault rifles, pistols, and shotguns against passive mobs and hostile creatures like Creepers and Zombies. The mod allows players to efficiently eliminate hostile mobs using automatic weapons.

These mods represent a notable shift in how players are customizing multiplayer titles. While modding communities have long transformed single-player games, extensive changes to online multiplayer shooters remain uncommon, making these Skate and Minecraft integrations particularly noteworthy to the player base.

Both mods demonstrate the creative scope of the Modern Warfare 2 modding community, blending gameplay mechanics and art styles from entirely different genres into Activision's military shooter.
