Mobile Game Ad Revenue Exceeded $12 Billion in 2025 as Newzoo Reports Record Global Market Earnings
Recent analytics reports from Sensor Tower and Newzoo show that mobile game advertising revenue surpassed $12 billion in 2025, contributing to a record global video game market total of $201.6 billion.

New industry data highlights how the global video game market performed throughout 2025. According to analytics firm Newzoo, total global video game market revenue reached $201.6 billion in 2025, marking a 9.1% increase compared to 2024. This performance occurred despite industry layoffs and studio closures. Mobile remained the largest sector, bringing in $113.3 billion, which represents a 10.7% increase driven by direct-to-consumer sales and Chinese mini-games.
Complementing those market figures, a report from Sensor Tower focused specifically on mobile game advertising revenue across 19 countries. These included the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, India, Brazil, and several others. Sensor Tower calculated that mobile game advertising revenue exceeded $12 billion in 2025. Across that year, mobile game ads were displayed 2.4 trillion times, while downloads of games containing advertisements reached 24.6 billion.
Sensor Tower noted that the share of mobile games utilizing ad monetization grew from 45.1% in July 2021 to 55.6% in May 2026. This growth happened alongside stagnation in in-app purchase revenue. In developing countries, the majority of mobile revenue typically comes from ads. For example, ads accounted for 70.3% of mobile game revenue in India between January and May 2026. In more mature markets like the USA, ads accounted for only 22.1% of revenue during that same period.
Casual and hyper-casual titles each generated 40% of ad revenue between February and April 2026, with hybrid games adding 16% and mid-core games contributing 4%. Puzzle titles led specific genres by capturing 53% of ad revenue share, followed by arcade games at 13%. Ad networks AppLovin and AdMob captured 65% of ad revenue in May 2026. Individual mobile titles also pulled in massive sums through advertising. The block puzzle game Block Blast earned $127 million in ad revenue from January to May 2026, leading top earners ahead of Vita Mahjong and Candy Crush Saga.
Beyond mobile advertising, Newzoo reported that the console segment reached $44.7 billion in 2025, while the PC segment climbed to $43.6 billion, fueled by high-profile releases and a 42.1% surge in subscription revenue. China and the USA accounted for 52% of total global revenue combined. Looking ahead, Newzoo forecasts that global spending will reach $213.9 billion by the end of 2026.
