Minecraft Dungeons II Showcases Brave Haven Hub and New Features at Gamescom 2026

Mojang revealed new gameplay details for Minecraft Dungeons II at Gamescom 2026, highlighting the Brave Haven hub, the Blacksmith and Enchantsmith, and a tough new boss fight.

During Gamescom 2026, Xbox Wire shared a hands-on preview of Minecraft Dungeons II, highlighting the upcoming action-RPG sequel's surrounding systems, hub area, and character customization mechanics. Following an earlier demo shown at the Xbox Games Showcase, this latest 30-minute demonstration focused on what lies outside the core hack-and-slash gameplay, introducing players to the central hub and new quality-of-life additions.

Brave Haven and the Smiths

Players will start their adventures in Brave Haven, a bucolic hub town. This safe zone houses two critical vendors designed to expand character buildcrafting: the Blacksmith and the Enchantsmith.

  • The Blacksmith: This vendor allows players to upgrade any piece of equipment to their highest available power level for a modest fee, ensuring favorite gear remains viable. Additionally, players can re-roll gear to swap out in-built buffs to better align with their preferred build.
  • The Enchantsmith: Utilizing Enchant Books found throughout the world and currency dropped by new Soul Corrupted enemies, the Enchantsmith lets players add powerful new active effects to their weapons. This system enables synergistic builds, such as combining increased dodge rolls with automatic arrow firing and fire-imbued ammunition.

The Copper Monstrosity Boss Fight

The Gamescom demo featured an Overworld map where players can travel from Brave Haven using a fast-travel minecart system. The preview culminated in a tower climb to fight the Copper Monstrosity, a brand-new boss. The encounter transitions from straight physical punches that demand precise dodging to complex lightning area-of-effect (AOE) attacks and full-arena dashes, showcasing a high-risk, aggressive combat loop with rapid ability cooldowns.

Quality-of-Life Adjustments

Several refinements have been implemented to improve the experience for both casual and dedicated players. A new quick-inventory overlay can be accessed by holding up on the D-pad, allowing players to swap gear on the fly. This mini-menu is designed with couch co-op in mind, allowing multiple local players to adjust their inventory simultaneously without halting the game. Additionally, a dedicated "Effects and Enchantments" menu consolidates all current gear buffs into a single, comprehensive list for advanced build optimization.

Release Date and Platforms

Minecraft Dungeons II is scheduled to launch on September 29, 2026. The game will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and cloud platforms, and will be included with Xbox Game Pass from day one. It supports cross-buy and cross-save functionality through Xbox Play Anywhere. The game is also slated for release on Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
