Minecraft Confirms The Sift as First New Dimension Since 2012
Mojang has announced The Sift, the first new dimension coming to Minecraft since the End launched in 2012. The update arrives in 2027.

Mojang has confirmed that Minecraft is getting its first new dimension in more than 14 years. During Minecraft Live 2026, the developer revealed that The Sift will launch for both Java and Bedrock Edition in 2027. This addition marks the fourth official dimension in the game, joining the Overworld, the Nether, and the End.
Described by Mojang as a beautiful, vibrant space teeming with souls, The Sift is the first dimension added to the sandbox game since the End debuted in 2012. Developers have kept further details quiet ahead of the official release, but players can look forward to exploring a completely new world.
Alongside the main game announcement, Mojang shared that players can experience an early version of The Sift in Minecraft Dungeons II when it releases on September 29. The recent showcase also revealed additional upcoming features, including Ice Caves, Sound Effects Packs, and a brand-new creator platform.
