MIBR advanced to the FISSURE Playground 3 semi-finals following a 2-0 victory over Alliance during the first series on stage at the SND Cultural & Sports Centre. The Brazilian-majority squad will now face Legacy in their next playoff match.
The series began on Inferno, an Alliance pick. Although the Swedish team took an early 3-4 lead despite losing the opening pistol round, MIBR turned the map around. The Brazilian core dominated with strong defensive rounds to lead 8-4 at halftime. Lucas "nqz" Soares led the performance with a 1.90 rating, followed by Felipe "insani" Yuji at 1.74 and Carlos "venomzera" Eduardo at 1.52. MIBR secured five straight defensive rounds and added another five on the attack to win 13-4.
Alliance opened Cache with four consecutive wins, but MIBR responded with a seven-round streak propelled by a triple from insani in the middle. The South American squad switched sides ahead at 7-5 and extended their lead after the pistol round. After nqz won a 1v1 to reach double digits and insani secured a quad kill in a 3v5 situation, MIBR reached map point at 12-5. Alliance attempted a comeback by chaining four rounds on the attack, but Tomas "tomaszin" Corna recorded a double opener in the 22nd round to close out Cache 13-9.
Next up for MIBR is a derby against Legacy, who advanced directly to the semi-finals as the top seed from Group B.
