Metroid Dread Physical Copies Surge Past $100 Following Metroid Ravenous Announcement
Sealed copies of the 2021 Switch title are commanding well above retail price on the secondary market as anticipation builds for the Switch 2 exclusive sequel.

The announcement of Metroid Ravenous, a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive launching in 2027, has triggered a spike in demand for Metroid Dread, with physical copies now commanding premium prices on the secondary market.
Sealed copies of the 2021 title are selling well above the original $100 retail price on platforms like eBay, with some listings reaching as high as $170, according to GamesRadar+. Special Edition versions are reportedly fetching even higher prices.
The price surge stems from limited supply. Metroid Dread, developed by MercurySteam, surpassed three million sales and became the best-selling game in the entire Metroid series. However, unlike many Nintendo titles that receive extended print runs, Metroid Dread was not reprinted in large quantities and is now out of print for physical retail.
The digital version remains available on the Nintendo eShop, offering an alternative for players eager to experience the title before Metroid Ravenous releases next year. Recent eShop charts show Metroid Dread trending as interest in the franchise peaks ahead of the sequel's launch.
