Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Producer Apologizes to PC Players Over Launch Performance Issues

Arc System Works producer Takeshi Yamanaka says two urgent patches have shipped and that CPU load issues are 'greatly improved,' but acknowledges regaining player trust on PC 'will not be an easy task.'

Two weeks after the launch of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, producer Takeshi Yamanaka of developer Arc System Works has publicly addressed performance problems that have affected the game's PC release. Speaking with VideoGamesChronicle, Yamanaka thanked players for the largely positive response to the core fighting game itself, noting that the core audience has been actively playing matches, training, and sharing new combos on social media.

That praise, however, has been undercut by stability and performance complaints on PC. Yamanaka apologized to players on the platform and confirmed that two urgent patches have already been released, with additional fixes still in development. According to Yamanaka, the CPU processing load issue has been 'greatly improved' in the latest patch, though the team continues to investigate remaining problems.

Yamanaka acknowledged the scale of the damage to the game's reputation on Steam, where Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls currently carries a 'Mixed' user rating. He stated that 'it will not be an easy task to regain the trust that we've lost from this,' while expressing confidence that the strength of the underlying gameplay, combined with ongoing performance work, can help restore confidence over time. He also issued a direct apology to players who purchased the PC version at launch, experienced technical issues, and either stepped away from the game or requested a refund.

The PC troubles stand in contrast to the game's performance on PlayStation 5, which Yamanaka described as having gone 'quite smoothly.' The disparity is also reflected in the game's sales split: reports cited in the interview indicate that roughly 74 percent of the title's first-week sales were on PS5. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is currently available on PC and PS5.
