Luminosity Secure Playoffs Berth at Logitech G Play Connect After Beating NIP

Luminosity have secured a playoffs berth at Logitech G Play Connect after finishing the Bo1 group stage with a 3-2 record. The Canadian organisation's qualification was decided by a commanding 13-11 win over Ninjas in Pyjamas on Ancient, a result that settled a three-way race for the remaining playoff position.

The finals day in Poland proved rollercoaster for Luminosity. They opened with a 13-7 loss to GamerLegion on Nuke before steadying with a 13-9 win over Metizport on Mirage. A tight 13-11 defeat to group leaders B8 on Dust2 followed, but Luminosity responded with a dominant 13-4 victory over M80 on Ancient. The final match against NIP proved decisive – without the 13-11 win, Luminosity would have been locked in a three-way tie with NIP and GamerLegion, a situation NIP would have won on tiebreakers.

Aleks 'Rainwaker' Petrov, formerly of Liquid, led the charge with a 1.22 rating across the five maps, while Aurélien 'afro' Drapier supported with a 1.19 rating. Luminosity's roster included Oscar 'AZUWU' Bell, Simon 'yxngstxr' Boije and Lucas 'lux' Meneghini.

The qualification marks a turnaround for Luminosity following their second-place finish at Roman Imperium Cup VIII. Both Liquid and NIP have been eliminated from the event, with Ninjas in Pyjamas fielding Adam 'adamb' Ångström, Martin 'stavn' Lund, Kacper 'xKacpersky' Gabara, Karim 'Krimbo' Moussa and Rasmus 'sjuush' Beck in their group stage run.

Luminosity return to action in the Logitech G Play Connect playoffs on 19 September, with their opponent and bracket path yet to be confirmed.
