Sony Launches Free Ad-Supported Live TV Service on PlayStation 5

Sony has officially announced the launch of Live TV on PlayStation 5, a new service that brings over 100 live channels directly to the console. Revealed via a PlayStation Blog announcement, the service is available to PS5 players located in the United States and offers a free, ad-supported television experience powered by Sony Pictures Television.

Users can access the new feature directly from the PlayStation 5 home screen. To begin watching, players must select the designated "Live TV on PS5" icon and choose the option to "Sign In With My PlayStation Account," which connects their console profile to the television service.

The service launches with a varied programming lineup categorized across multiple genres. Featured movie channels include MovieSphere by Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action, FilmRise Free Movies, Sony One Horror Hits, and Cinevault. For TV show enthusiasts, the platform features recognizable programming such as Community, The Shield, Hell’s Kitchen, The Walking Dead, Forensic Files, Unsolved Mysteries, Deal or No Deal USA, Fear Factor, and Ice Road Truckers.

Anime fans have access to popular series including Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter, and Death Note, alongside exclusive channels like Black Clover and Box Sets channels provided by Crunchyroll. The sports category includes coverage from FOX Sports, NASCAR, NBC Sports Now, and UFC, covering events in mixed martial arts, football, hockey, motorsports, golf, boxing, and soccer.

For news and weather, the service hosts national, local, and international broadcasts from outlets including NBC News Now, Fox Weather, and LiveNOW from FOX. Additionally, creator-led and specialty options include programming from Hot Ones, Spotify’s The Ringer, Futcrunch, and Idle Mode, as well as gaming, esports, documentaries, podcasts, and the exclusive eCLUTCH channel.
