A Lego replica of the original PlayStation will be available next month

A Lego replica of the original PlayStation was recently revealed at the Sony State of Play broadcast. Built at a 1:1 scale and consisting of 1,911 individual pieces, the upcoming collector's piece features an openable disc tray, pressable buttons, and multiple easter eggs, including small dioramas based on Ape Escape and Gran Turismo. These dioramas can be pulled out of the console and displayed separately if desired. According to the accompanying PlayStation Blog, additional hidden secrets are also included within the set.

The build comes with a brick-built Lego PlayStation 1 controller that can be assembled alongside the main console. This collaboration was announced as part of the 30th-anniversary celebration of PlayStation. For buyers in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, the item will be available to purchase via PlayStation Direct starting on October 1st. Additionally, it will roll out through Lego Insiders early access and all Lego stores beginning on October 4th.

In terms of pricing, the Lego PlayStation replica will retail for £139.99 in the UK, €159.99 in Europe, and $179.99, including tax, in the US. This new hardware partnership joins other gaming collaborations with Lego, alongside separate announcements during the State of Play event, which included limited-edition Grand Theft Auto 6 PS5 controllers set for ordering later in the month.
