Lego Dragon Ball Shenron & Goku Set Impresses Fans, Overshadows Recent Rayquaza Kit

Lego and Toei Animation have officially revealed the first Dragon Ball Lego set, and the community reaction has been enthusiastic. The set, called Lego Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku, launches worldwide on November 4, 2026, priced at $179.99 (£129.99 in the UK, 23,980 yen in Japan).

The set contains 1,764 pieces and stands over 12.5 inches tall when assembled. It depicts Shenron emerging from behind the seven Dragon Balls in the pose he assumes when summoned, as featured in the Dragon Ball Z opening sequence. The dragon's head, arms, and legs are posable, though the body remains static. Kid Goku is included as a minifigure, positioned on his Kintoun flying cloud, and comes with his Power Pole accessory. The minifigure retains Goku's tail, reflecting the character's earliest appearance in the series.

Lego Insider members can access the set on November 1 for early purchase, with general availability following on November 4. The set is recommended for ages 18 and up.

Fan discussions have compared the new Dragon Ball set to the Lego Pokemon Rayquaza kit released last month. While both feature dragons positioned overhead, community comments have favored the Dragon Ball design. One top-rated Reddit comment stated the comparison "makes rayquaza look like dirt." However, the Rayquaza set uses approximately 700 fewer pieces and costs $129.99, with more emphasis on the display stand.

Lego senior VP of product, marketing, and development Federico Begher indicated this is the beginning of a broader Dragon Ball partnership. "The LEGO Icons Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku set is just the beginning, and we look forward to seeing how this partnership inspires fans to explore the Dragon Ball universe through LEGO building and creativity," he said in the official announcement. The specific nature of future sets remains unconfirmed, though the One Piece Lego line offers a potential template, having released both character replicas and vehicle sets.

The set dimensions measure 12.5 inches high, 9.5 inches long, and 10 inches wide when fully constructed.
