LEGO Astro Bot Set Comes Free With LEGO PlayStation, October 1st Pre-orders Open

LEGO has confirmed a free Astro Bot set as a gift-with-purchase item for the new LEGO PlayStation console (set 72306). The 276-piece figure, numbered 40899, will only be available bundled with the main set and will not be sold separately.

The buildable Astro Bot stands approximately 8 inches tall and features a fully poseable head and arms, allowing collectors to display the PS5 icon in different poses. The character has interchangeable eyes that swap between round and half-moon shapes to alter his expression. Additional customization options include a cape, propulsion effects, and stickers, plus a display stand that enables poses of Astro Bot flying, falling, or gliding.

Pre-orders open October 1st for LEGO Insiders members and October 4th for general customers on LEGO.com and participating retailers including PlayStation Direct. The LEGO PlayStation set itself contains 1,911 pieces and recreates the original PlayStation console and controller at near 1:1 scale, with working power and open buttons plus hidden dioramas inside.

LEGO has not published a full end date or regional terms for the Astro Bot gift offer. Past LEGO gift-with-purchase promotions have sold out quickly, sometimes before the main set, so collectors interested in acquiring the figure should act promptly during pre-orders. LEGO does not typically release gift-with-purchase sets as standalone products, and resale prices for previous limited sets have reached $175 to $300 on secondary markets.

Astro Bot began as a tech demo in The Playroom on PS4 in 2013 before starring in PlayStation VR's Astro Bot Rescue Mission and the PS5 launch title Astro's Playroom. The 2024 standalone Astro Bot game for PS5 became the highest-rated game of 2024 on Metacritic and won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024.
