LA Noire 2 reportedly next for Rockstar after GTA 6, set in San Francisco

A leaker who accurately predicted GTA 6 details claims Rockstar is developing LA Noire 2 set during the Zodiac Killer era, with a potential release window of 2030 or later.

According to a leaker with a track record on GTA 6 predictions, Rockstar's next major project after Grand Theft Auto 6 will be LA Noire 2, a sequel to the 2011 detective game.

The information originates from 4chan leaks posted in 2023 and later shared on GTAForums. The leaker claimed LA Noire 2 will be set in San Francisco and involve investigating the Zodiac Killer. They predicted a release window of at least 2030.

The leaker's credibility stems from accurately predicting GTA 6 mechanics before official announcements, including the dynamic relationship system between protagonists Jason and Lucia where players influence their romantic involvement through choices.

Rockstar will likely dedicate substantial resources to supporting GTA 6 through at least 2027 and possibly into 2028, which could delay a full LA Noire sequel release further. The original LA Noire launched in 2009 as an ambitious detective noir simulation set in 1940s Los Angeles.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged the studio considers its legacy franchises. "There's nothing to announce on LA Noire specifically, and if there were, it would be Rockstar announcing it, not me," he said at the iicon event in April. "But in any case, with regard to our legacy IP, the teams are always looking at what we have and we're always thinking about it."
