Publisher and developer Koei Tecmo has announced that it is working on a new 3D adventure game based on The Apothecary Diaries. The announcement was made during the September 2026 Nintendo Direct presentation, confirming that the title will release worldwide for both the Nintendo Switch and the successor console, Nintendo Switch 2, in early 2027.

Unlike previous browser-based games tied to the franchise, this upcoming console release is structured as an offline, single-player experience. Internationally, the title will be known as The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother. During the showcase, a sizzle reel and a dedicated segment in the Japanese Nintendo Direct offered a first look at the gameplay, which puts players in the shoes of the series protagonist, Maomao.

Players will be able to control Maomao's movements directly while exploring a 3D world to gather medicine ingredients. Additionally, the gameplay loop features point-and-click examinations and deduction selections as players investigate various mystery scenes. While the American Nintendo Direct featured the game via a Partner Spotlight Sizzle Reel, Nintendo’s Japanese YouTube channel also published a standalone version of the presentation trailer.
