Square Enix has officially attached a release window to Kingdom Hearts 4, revealing that the highly anticipated title is on track to arrive in late 2027. The news was confirmed during a new trailer presentation at Disney's D23 2026 showcase, alongside several other announcements for the franchise including an animated series and a new Pixar Coco-themed world.

This late 2027 window positions the game to launch around the series' Western 25th anniversary. The release window is planned across multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This represents a significantly firmer commitment from Square Enix than previous updates, which typically only featured director Tetsuya Nomura reassuring fans that development remained on track without specifying a completion date.

Kingdom Hearts 4 begins the franchise's new Lost Master Arc, following the events of Kingdom Hearts 3 and taking place primarily in Quadratum, a large hub city featuring a realistic, Tokyo-like aesthetic. Prior to this announcement, Square Enix's public updates on the title consisted solely of teaser trailers and general development progress notes.
