Former Xbox First-Party Title 'Kiln' Receives Permanent Price Drop and Massive New Update

Following Double Fine leaving Xbox Game Studios to return to independence, the studio has confirmed that its pottery-based multiplayer brawler, Kiln, is continuing development with its largest update of all time. Titled the Bisque Update, the patch introduces a new creative game mode named "Daily Throw," allowing players to challenge their creativity and skill on the wheel.

Alongside the new game mode, the update adds weekly quests, a new pot journal, an expanded collection, an increased level cap, and the ability to configure custom games in parties of up to eight players. Double Fine also released two new decoration packs: the "Sun and Surf" pack, which is completely free, and a Psychonauts 2-themed DLC pack retailing for $1.99 USD.

Alongside the content drop, Kiln has received a permanent price reduction. The standard edition is now priced at $7.99 USD, while the Fired Up Edition is available for $9.99 USD. The studio noted that these funds will go directly toward supporting the independent developer.

Looking ahead, Double Fine has outlined plans for future patches, indicating that work is underway on new ways to play, account saving features, and community connection tools, though specific details remain flexible as the team navigates its new era as an independent studio.
