Killzone Remake in Early Development at Guerrilla Games With People Can Fly, Report Claims

A new Killzone project is reportedly in the early stages of development at Guerrilla Games, according to multiple sources cited by MP1st. The project is believed to be a remake or remaster of an older entry in the long-dormant franchise, most likely the original 2004 Killzone released on PS2.

Guerrilla Games is not developing the project alone. Sources indicate that an external partner studio is collaborating on the remake. While unconfirmed, People Can Fly—the Poland-based developer behind Bulletstorm and the Outriders franchise—is considered the leading candidate. In March 2025, People Can Fly announced it was working with Sony on a new game based on existing PlayStation intellectual property, codenamed Project Delta. MP1st sources believe Project Delta refers to this Killzone remake.

The Killzone project was originally planned to be Guerrilla Games' next priority following the studio's work on Horizon Hunters Gathering. However, negative internal feedback prompted a reboot of that live-service title, which is now the studio's current focus. The Killzone remake is reportedly scheduled to release before a new mainline Horizon 3 entry, though these timelines remain subject to change given the project's early stage.

The franchise has remained largely inactive since Killzone: Shadow Fall launched during the PS4's launch window in 2013. Composer Joris de Man, who has worked on Killzone titles, stated in a March 2025 interview with VideoGamer that he believed a remastered trilogy could be commercially successful, though he was less optimistic about an entirely new mainline entry.

Few concrete details about the remake have emerged. Sources describe it as likely featuring a "visual uplift" of an existing game rather than a full creative reboot, though specifics remain unclear at this very early stage of development.
