Jojopyun Re-Signs with Movistar KOI Through 2027 LEC Season
Canadian midlaner Joseph 'Jojopyun' Pyun has extended his contract with Movistar KOI, committing to the European league for another year instead of returning to North America. The signing comes ahead of the 2026 League of Legends World Championships.

Movistar KOI has secured Canadian midlaner Joseph 'Jojopyun' Pyun for the 2027 LEC season, retaining one of its core players after finishing as runners-up in the 2026 regional finals. The contract extension means Jojopyun will remain in the European region rather than explore opportunities back home in North America.
KOI co-owner Ibai Llanos explained the timing of the early signing during a stream, noting that the organisation needed clarity on its roster direction before the World Championships. "Heading into Worlds without knowing what you're doing for the following year usually ruins your offseason," Ibai said. The LEC finals took place in Nice before the tournament, and KOI presented Jojopyun with a deadline to decide on his future with the team.
The push for early signings reflects competitive pressures within the league. Team Heretics has already announced the addition of midlaner Adam 'Jackies' Jeřábek from GIANTX, demonstrating how roster moves can begin before the regional season concludes. Ibai noted that other organisations were acting quickly and KOI needed to secure its plans accordingly.
Beyond Jojopyun's renewal, KOI confirmed it will retain head coach Tomás 'Melzhet' Campelos Fernández. The decision rules out signing Dylan Falco, whom G2 Esports dropped earlier this year. KOI still has contract expirations pending for toplaner Alex 'Myrwn' Pastor Villarejo and AD carry David 'Supa' Martínez García, whose futures with the organisation remain undetermined.
Jojopyun will compete for KOI at the 2026 World Championships, which begin October 15 with the Swiss Stage starting October 23. KOI has already qualified for the tournament after finishing second in the LEC finals behind G2 Esports, which claimed its 20th regional title.
